Fall 2011 Blue Backer Form Now Available Online!

Fundraising is an integral part of our success.

The Blue Backer project is just one way to raise money for the band and allows individuals and companies to advertise in the music programs that are printed for each performance.  It’s another great way for people and organizations to show their support for the music programs at ECHS.

Click here to get your PDF version of the new form.

Please contact Kris Martin if you have questions regarding the Blue Backer program.  She’ll be happy to help!

Volunteer Opportunities

Marching Band has officially kicked-off.  That means there are lots of opportunities to lend a hand and help make this a great year for our kids!

Right now, we need volunteers for the following:

UNIFORMS:

  • We’re looking for three or four parents to help with uniform fitting. (No sewing skills required – our marching uniforms use snaps!!)
  • We need 12-15 parents for uniform washing. (You’ll need a washing machine WITHOUT an agitator and you must have city water – not well-water).    If you’d like to help, but don’t have city water or the right kind of washing machine, we can still use your help!  We’ll create teams to take the uniforms to the laundromat. Detergent and instructions are provided.
  • Six to eight parents are needed to press pant leg hems and sleeve hems.  Once the uniforms are fitted and washed, we need to press in the hems and make sure the uniforms are crisp and wrinkle-free.

FOOD:

  • We will need 2-3 parents daily to manage the snacks each morning of Band Camp. Volunteers should be available between the hours of 7:30 – 11:00 a.m. to collect, serve and clean-up the morning snack during Band Camp Weeks (Weeks of August 1st and August 8th).

There will be many other areas to help with, but these are the immediate needs for the next couple of weeks.

Can You Help?

Take a few minutes to check your calendar and see if you can spare a few extra hours to lend a hand.

Feel free to send Mrs. Pummill an e-mail if you have any questions!

Thank You!

We couldn’t accomplish all we do without the wonderful support and hard work of all of our band parents!  Thank you for getting involved!

Baby, It’s Hot Outside!

We are asking all students to donate at least one case of water for summer band again this year. It takes thousands of bottles of water to keep our kids hydrated throughout the season and if everyone brings in just one case of water, we can make sure everyone has something to drink.

If you haven’t already, please bring in your water as soon as possible. You may bring it into the Band Room or send the case in with your student.

Also – Freezer Pops are another highly-desired snack at the end of a long, hot practice. If you see Freezer Pops on sale, pick up a box or two and send those in as well. You will put a smile on the face of a hot and sweaty teenager!!

Thanks so much for all of your support!

Meeting for Parents of New Blazer Brigade Members

Marching Band is just around the corner and I’m sure your child is feeling excited, nervous, and perhaps dreading the heat all in anticipation of the days ahead!

As parents, we know that you have questions and concerns that need to be addressed as we kick off another great Marching Band Season!

A New Parent Meeting is scheduled for THURSDAY, JULY 14th starting at approximately 6:15 PM in the ECHS Band Room (“approximately” because we need to let the students get their instruments and get outside before we can really begin).

We will talk through all your questions about the marching season schedule, fundraising opportunities, and what types of shoes, socks, etc. the kids will need.  You’ll also have a chance to sign up for different volunteer committees.  And, we’ll give you information on how you can stay in-the-loop as well as give you an overall perspective of what you can expect as the season progresses.  It’s all very important stuff!

Please take the time to stay once you drop off your child at practice! We look forward to getting to know each and every one of you and your kids. You’ll find that band really does become akin to a second family and we all work together to help our Directors and Staff provide a great experience for our kids!

Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns you have prior to Thursday evening.

Remember, the first practice of the season is Tuesday from 6-9 PM.

Make sure your kids have tennis shoes and socks on, bring a water bottle, bug spray and a good attitude!
